An Emirati CEO Wrote An Open Letter To A YouTuber Who Bashed Dubai

• Chris Williamson is an English podcaster and YouTuber with 2.8 million followers on Instagram. He appeared on the first series of the reality show Love Island in 2015.

• In a podcast, Chris Williamson said Dubai “is one of the most awful places on the planet”, calling it a soulless place. And yet, he’s coming to Dubai as part of his self-discovery 2026 tour.

• The Chairman and CEO of DMCC, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, responded in an open letter saying, “it is unclear what metrics you’re using to summarise what makes Dubai ‘one of the most awful places on the planet”. Not so awful that you’re returning for your Self Discovery Dubai Live 2026 event, which, assuming you stand by your position, questions the integrity of your own soul, but perhaps worse, shows an arrogance that you feel you can insult a city like Dubai and expect it to go unnoticed.”
