A New Sugar Tax System Will Be Implemented In The UAE In 2026
The Ministry of Finance and the Federal Tax Authority announced a tiered excise tax on sugary drinks. meaning, the more sugar that’s in your drink, the higher the tax. It’s based on sugar content per 100ml 🍬
It’s all part of a nationwide push for healthier living. Less sugar, better choices, and maybe (finally?) fewer mystery “fruit” juices on the shelf.
The rollout is scheduled to start in 2026, and authorities will roll out awareness campaigns and support to help manufacturers and retailers adjust 👏
More details are expected soon as the final legislation is prepared!
